TRAVEL SERIES 1: BRAND INSPIRATION

The Start of Our Brand's Concept

After a few years of not being to travel we made it our mission to get out and explore more when we had the chance. We had saved over the few years of not travelling so were lucky enough to be able to go overseas on different trips. Going overseas again brought so much culture, art, and inspiration into our lives. Not only did we want to make sure we used this newfound inspiration in our every day lives we also wanted to channel it into our brand.

Inspiration in Colour Overseas

One big point of inspiration was all the colour we were finding in other countries. We love how other cultures incorporate so much colourful art into what they create; whether it be buildings, fabrics, food, paintings, etc. We loved how much this brought everything to life. We knew that we wanted the brand to include unexpected colours and be used in items that were traditionally not known for colour pops and as fun home accessories. Also wanted to be able to mix and match the colours so that each person that bought from the brand could use in in their own way, a create your own space vision.

Vintage Shopping Inspiration

Another point of inspiration were quirky, unique brands we saw overseas along with vintage shopping finds. There was a lot of furniture and items with abstract shapes and were more pieces of art than just a functional piece. This was something we really wanted with what we were to offer; to sell pieces that are seen as both pieces of art and functional items. We wanted more unique pieces that could help you personalise your home. 

Art Gallery Inspiration

A third huge point of inspiration were the museums and galleries we were visiting when going to new cities. We went to both modern art museums along with visiting museums with pieces centuries years old. We looked at a huge variety of art from paintings, to films, to sculptures. All of these visits helped us create a vision of what we wanted our brand to be and how we want to portray it.

Inspiration At Home

Finally one of the most amazing things about travelling was that when we came home we started to notice even more details around us. Really feel like traveling and seeing so much beauty and culture overseas really opened our eyes and were able to see more of the more minute and interesting features in our own backyard.

 

Helping Others

While so much of this inspiration was beautiful there also were parts of our travels that were heartbreaking and hard. We not only saw beauty we also some some areas where more people were struggling to make ends meet or to find shelter. We saw a lot of people hustling more than we ever saw around us in our cushy 9-5s. Seeing all of this really had us wanting to help and make a change more than ever. Due to this we have been working on how we integrate into the brand something that can also help others. More to come on this in a separate post as this is an important part of our brand we are working on and want to voice in the right way... stay tuned to future posts!
