Influencer Interview about her Colourful Home

TFY CREATOR SERIES #1 - Colourful Homes @funkypisces

Today we are launching our TIPS FROM YOU CREATOR SERIES which is where we sit down with different creatives and get tips on what they specialise in. Our first creative is Lexy aka @funkypisces. Enjoy!

LTTF: Hi Lexy! Thanks for being our first creator in our new series; TFY (Tips From You). We are looking to interview different creators that have caught our eye and get tips on how we incorporate these specialties into our own homes or creative outlets.

We first found your TikTok @funkypisces when we were scrolling through "colourful home" inspo and your viral tiktok (4.2 MILLION views!) of your apartment redecorating project came up. Were you surprised about the huge reaction this tiktok received?

LEXY: Yes definitely surprised! At that point, I only had about 100 followers and that specific day I wanted to try and post something but had spent the morning in tears in the midst of my breakup. I found some footage I already had, used a trending song, and whipped something up super quick. I left my house to go teach a dance class and when I got out, I saw that my post was in the hundreds of thousands of views within a couple hours. I seriously thought there was a glitch! It was exciting because I felt like I had a lot to share but was barely getting any visibility, so to see my work pay off felt really incredible!

LTTF: How long did it take for you to get to the point where you were able to make that video? Did you decorate it all in one go or did you have to slowly decorate it over time?

LEXY: I would say it probably took me about 3 months to get everything together. I started from basically nothing after selling everything I shared with my ex. I showed up at my place with just a desk and my clothes essentially, but I had a clear vision and wanted to get everything setup quickly so I could settle in and feel comfortable through this new life transition.

LTTF: What are some tips on how to add colour to your home when decorating?

LEXY: I think interior decor is so subjective, but I personally love white walls as a canvas. I think this allows for colour to pop in your decor because it provides some contrast. This is also why I've selected some furniture and decor to be white or off white, because it allows the items that do have colour to shine. I also love white/off-white lamps where you can add a coloured bulb inside!

LTTF: We love using pops of colour on white as well, thats exactly what we did on our first shoot with our ceramic plates, let the colours do the talking! Do you have any certain home decor items or ideas you find are easy ways to incorporate more colours into your home?

LEXY: Lighting is huge!! Like I mentioned previously, you can add coloured bulbs to most lamps and I think that's such a lovely way to bring in colour and add ambience. If you have white walls, I love some bold, colourful prints and neon signs too. This can really make a statement and create a really fun vibe. Other ways to easily incorporate colour is with coffee table books and candles, so even if you have a white coffee table (like me), if you style it with some colour, you now have this nice pop of colour!

LTTF: If you had to describe your home decor style in one sentence what would it be?

LEXY: I think in my current apartment, I've taken some inspiration from my concrete floors and added an industrial flare, so if I could describe my own style right now I would say Industrial Disco Funk :)

LTTF: Industrial Disco Funk, we love that! And agree it's a perfect description of your place. And for our final question; what is your favourite way to use our multi-functional plates?

LEXY: I love bringing them out when I'm making a charcuterie board for friends and family to enjoy! It's a nice little addition to give them a choice of a fun plate to enjoy the charcuterie. I love how it adds some colour to the ambience. I'm big on setting the vibes, and these plates definitely do that!

LTTF: We love that our brand helps you set the vibe and used in a moment of bringing people together! Thanks so much for sitting down (virtually) with us and for being a supporter of our small business, we look forward to more home decor videos from you!
